Conversion and change of use of an existing commercial building into 50 high-quality condominiums with underground parking for 24 cars in Berlin-Lichtenberg.
50 residential units are being created as "loft flats" with all-round generous balcony and terrace areas. The living spaces are characterised by exceptional room heights, a large proportion of windows and an industrial-looking material language. The façade design is restructured and the cubature of the former administration building is translated into a contemporary, modern design language.
The flats are accessed via open galleries (arcade) in a newly constructed inner courtyard. This open area allows cross-ventilation as well as natural lighting of the residential units from two sides and is protected from precipitation by means of a flying roof.
