Luisenforum Potsdam

Conversion / new construction of the Luisenforum with a retail and commercial area of approx.2500 m² in the northern city centre of Potsdam.

The listed ensemble with its baroque and Gründerzeit components along the Brandenburger shopping mile Straße was converted into a modern retail shop. A 2-storey, light-flooded glass and steel cube, the Forum, was created in the inner courtyard. The layout of the pathways with the formation of a square takes up the motif of the passage typical of Potsdam's city centre.

The listed perimeter block buildings were carefully renovated and the historic courtyard facades were retained. They form an interesting interplay with the new modern courtyard development.

In the meantime, the complex has been converted into an IKEA Planning Studio by our office and will reopen in October 2020.
